Name one person to coordinate the visit
Choose a staff contact who can arrange access and involve the home’s responsible manager when decisions are needed. Let ADI know about sign-in requirements, visiting restrictions and parking.
Share building information
Have relevant plans and past findings ready if they are available. Do not delay the first call while searching for paperwork.
- Location of the meter, valves and plant room
- Affected rooms and approximate pipe routes
- Details of previous investigations and repairs
- Relevant site hazards and building records
- Preferred access windows and restricted areas
Agree water and heating interruptions
Some tests require part of a system to be isolated. The care home must approve any interruption and plan alternative arrangements for essential uses. Tell the engineer which services must remain available.
Confirm the quotation and paperwork
Ask what is included in detection, reporting and repair. Request relevant risk assessment and method statement information, insurance evidence and engineer documentation required by the home.
