Show how the problem changes with weather

Photos taken at different times can be useful. Note rainfall, wind direction if known, the rooms affected and previous roof repairs. These details help the engineer plan the investigation.

A method suited to the roof

Moisture surveys, thermal imaging and specialist roof testing may be appropriate. Access, roof construction and weather affect what is possible; confirm those requirements before attendance.

  • Flat and pitched roof investigations
  • Water ingress around roof details
  • Damp affecting upper-floor rooms
  • Recurring leaks after attempted repairs

Separate investigation from remedial work

Ask which parts of the roof can be inspected and what the report will cover. A roofing contractor may be needed for access or subsequent repairs. No particular testing method is suitable for every roof.
